News Corp sells Myspace

NEW YORK (Reuters) - News Corp has sold social media site Myspace for about $35 million to online advertising company Specific Media, according to a source familiar with the transaction. The deal, announced on Wednesday, calls for News Corp to retain a minority stake in the website that it purchased six years ago for $580 million, the companies said.

The sale of Myspace caps six years of ownership under Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, which swooped in to buy Myspace beating out rival Viacom for what was then one of the world's hottest social networking sites.

Fat Joe Explains The Importance Of Losing Weight

(AllHipHop News) Bronx rapper Fat Joe recently spoke about his weight loss, after the 6'2 rap star shed 88 pounds. According to Fat Joe, his motivation for losing the weight was simple: he lost seven friends in their 30s, to heart attacks over the past year. Fat Joe's most important discovery, rapper Big Pun, also died from a heart attack in 2002, due to his massive weight.

During an interview with the New York Daily News, Fat Joe spoke about his weight loss. "Everybody needs to educate themselves. If you're from the inner city, the hood, Bronx, Harlem, Brooklyn, whatever and you go to your store and there aint  no diet Snapple's in there, ain't no sugar free candies, you need to tell them 'yo I need that,'" Fat Joe told the New York Daily News. "Everybody needs a fix so it's a constant battle man. For me, I've seen too many of my friends die." Fat Joe stuck to a diet of six small meals per day, consisting of fruit, whole grain foods, lean meats and whole grain foods.

Now that the rapper has slimmed down from 425 pounds to 265 pounds, he's even pondering a new name. "They're all trying to alter my name, but I can't see myself as anything else," Fat Joe said. "I think I gotta ask Diddy what my new name is."

Used car buyers may not be told of auto recalls

WASHINGTON (AP) — Used car dealers may be selling cars and trucks that have been recalled but not repaired because manufacturers don't send them the same recall notifications that are sent to franchised dealers, said a study by a government watchdog. Even if used car dealers or franchised dealers know of a recall, there is no requirement that they tell prospective buyers or make the repairs before a sale, said the Government Accountability Office study released Wednesday. Nor does the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees auto safety, have the power to order dealers to make the repairs or to warn buyers.

The safety administration also lacks the authority to require automakers to inform used car dealers of recalls.
The situation "could pose a significant risk to the safety of millions of vehicle drivers and may have a negative impact on recall completion rates," the study said. "Many consumers may be unknowingly putting their lives at risk by purchasing a defective vehicle." More than 35 million used cars were sold in 2009, including 11 million sold by used car dealers.

The study recommends the safety administration make its vehicle recall database searchable by VIN number and ask Congress to give it the authority to ensure car buyers are notified of recalls prior to sales.

Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music Lands Worldwide Deal With Island Def Jam

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West continues his business affiliation with the Island Def Jam Music Group, as his imprint G.O.O.D. Music has inked a worldwide, long-term deal with the major label. The first release  under the new agreement will be Big Sean's highly anticipated debut, Finally Famous, which features the award-winning hit single “My Last,” featuring R&B singer Chris Brown. "G.O.O.D. Music is an exciting new chapter in the long and successful association of Kanye West and Island Def Jam," said Island Def Jam's current CEO, Barry Weiss, who left Jive to take over as CEO at the label in March of 2007.

"As a recording artist and a producer over the past eight years, there is no one who has made a greater impression on the game than Kanye," Weiss said. "We look forward to working closely with the new and established artists that he will be bringing to G.O.O.D. Music, which is already off to an impressive start with Big Sean."

Kanye West has been labeled “an integral core" artist on the Island Def Jam Music Group, having sold over 20 million records since his debut in 2004, with the critically acclaimed album The College Dropout. According to Steve Bartels, President and CEO of Island Def Jam Music Group, the investment into Kanye West's  label is based on his proven success as a hit maker. "Kanye's genius has been proven time and time again on records and onstage," said Bartels of the 14-time Grammy Award winning rapper/producer. "He not only pours it out for himself, but he has made the difference with his presence on innumerable projects with other artists who are indebted to him.

Big Sean's debut album Finally Famous is due in stores on June 28th via G.O.O.D. Music/Island Def Jam Music Group.

Does video show UFO over UK?

Does the video above show a UFO "mothership" and a fleet of spacecraft hovering in the sky over London, England? The video, taken by a pedestrian on a London street, shows three shining circular dots moving around the sky. Then a larger shape appears and hovers for a while, before abruptly moving behind a cloud.
"There's a UFO up there," says a man in the crowd.

Two similar videos have also appeared on YouTube recently. That's led some to question whether the whole thing might just be a clever promotional campaign—a less alien concept in a world city today. MadOne
