Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z big winners at BET Awards

NEW YORK (Billboard) – Nicki Minaj and Jay-Z were the big winners at the 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards this past Saturday at the Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Minaj won three awards: Rookie of the Year, People's Champ and the Made You Look award. The latter in recognition of her fashion sense.
Jay-Z, who was not in attendance, earned three awards as well, including the Perfect Combo for his Alicia Keys-assisted "Empire State of Mind" collaborative effort, CD of the Year for "The Blueprint 3" and Best Live Performer.
Other winners included Rick Ross, who picked up two awards for Track of the Year and Club Banger of the Year for the Lex Luger-produced "B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)." His manager, Diddy won the Hustler award.
Swizz Beatz got Producer of the Year, DJ Khaled was awarded with Best DJ and Salt-N-Pepa were given the I Am Hip-Hop award.
There were plenty of performance highlights as well, including Rick Ross' opening set with Diddy, Khaled and surprise guest MC Hammer. Hammer appeared onstage with dancers dressed in military gear for his hit "2 Legit 2 Quit."
Dipset's Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey also reunited at this year's show for the first time since reconciling this past summer. The foursome performed their latest "Salute."
B.o.B, Big Boi featuring Yelawolf, Soulja Boy, J. Cole, Cali Swag District with Digital Underground, Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame were among the other performers.
The 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards, hosted by comedian/actor Mike Epps, is scheduled to air October 12 at 8 p.m. on U.S. cable network BET. Reuters.
