Air Jordan 3 "Black Flip"

A Europe release date of the “Black Flip” Air Jordan 3 (December 3, 2011). Stateside release information may surface soon; however, until then, we now have new, detailed images of this intriguing colorway of MJ’s third signature model. Unlike most of the Air Jordan 3 colorways which feature cement print on the toe and heel areas, this “Black Flip” pair sees monochromatic, black cement print throughout the midfoot, collar and side panels. The rest of the shoe is also colored in black with perforated leather on parts of the tongue and textured leather on the toe cap and heel.

Unemployment in Las Vegas area takes a dip

CARSON CITY — For the first time in four months, the unemployment rate has dropped in the Las Vegas area, dipping to 13.6 percent in September. The number of unemployed fell from 135,720 in August to 129,400 in September. The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported today the statewide rate stabilized at 13.4 percent for the month, the same rate as in August. Gov. Brian Sandoval said, “This month it appears the unemployment rate is stabilizing and that job growth is outpacing job losses.” Bill Anderson, chief economist for the department said, however, “While employers in the Silver State added 10,000 most were seasonal in nature.” The U.S. rate remained at 9.1 percent.

In the Las Vegas area, construction employment grew by 1,000 jobs to a total of 41,900 in September. The number of jobs in the hotel-casino category increased by 800 to 161,200. The 13.6 percent in the Las Vegas area was the lowest since 12.1 percent in April and compared to the 14.2 percent in August. The department reported employment in manufacturing in the Las Vegas area remained at 18,300. The number of jobs in trade, transportation and utilities reached 143,400, up 400 from August. Washoe County, meanwhile, also saw a decline in unemployment, dropping from 13 percent in August to 12.6 percent in September. Carson City’s rate fell from 12.7 percent in August to 12.4 percent in September. MadOne

New Universal Chargers For Electric Cars

A computer rendering of BMW's i8 electric concept vehicle.

Seven auto manufacturers have banded together to create a new international standard of universal electrical vehicle (EV) charging stations. The announcement was made last week at the 15th International Electronic Systems for Motor Vehicles Conference, held by the Society of German Engineers. Audi, BMW, Daimler, Ford, GM, Porsche and Volkswagen have all thrown their names into the ring.  The group has proposed a single type of charging station that will juice up EVs regardless of where you are or your car’s country of origin. That is, as long as your car was made from one of these seven companies.

Besides making car charging more convenient for drivers, the new agreement could also help the carmakers save money. Until now, each of the car companies only offered charging stations for their own cars, which is expensive and wasteful. “Standardization will reduce build complexity for manufacturers, accelerate the installation of common systems internationally and, most importantly, improve the ownership experience for EV drivers,” the companies said in a joint press release. Cam’ron And Queen Latifah Form New Film Company

Cam’ron has formed a new joint venture with Queen Latifah and business partner Shakim Compere, that will produce a new flick starring the Harlem, New York, rapper. The new company, name KFU Productions, is a new joint venture between Cam and his longtime partner Jacob York’s Killa Films and Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Films. The two companies have joined forces to produce a new movie titled “Percentages” that will feature Cam’ron in the starring role.

The movie centers around two New York hustlers on the run from a drug deal gone bad. “Ant” and “Carter” move south to Miami. The pair are not content to lay low with family, so the long time partners quickly build a new empire in the world of credit fraud. As the business grows, so does the unwanted attention from law enforcement and Miami’s most notorious criminals. “Cam did the story, and then we brought in a writer to really tighten the script,” Jacob York told AllHipHop.com. “The movie was originally supposed to be the follow up to Killa Season, but we decided to make a brand new movie since the script was so good.”

Cam has the lead role in “Percentages,” which also boasts a number of high-profile co-stars, including Ving Rhames, Macy Gray, Donnell Rawlings, Melinda Williams, K.D. Aubert, Omar Gooding, Robert Wisdom, and others. MadOne

Lindsay Lohan's probation revoked

Lindsay Lohan was taken into custody yet again after Judge Stephanie Sautner on Wednesday revoked probation, pending a hearing, in her 2007 DUI and 2011 theft cases. Sautner, who set bail at $50,000 in each case for a total of $100,000, pointed out that Lohan's own actions had left her in a position where it was impossible for the actress to complete her sentence. Though attorney Shawn Chapman Holley told the judge that the bail bondsman was in the courtroom -- after a hearing date was set and probation was revoked -- Lohan couldn't avoid the cuffs. On a live camera feed from the courthouse, she was seen being taken off by deputies to be processed, hands behind her back, white dress flowing around her.

Lindsay is about four years into attempting to complete probation requirements related to two DUI charges, a reckless driving charge and a diversion program in lieu of a cocaine possession charge. In May, she picked up a misdemeanor theft charge that earned her additional probation in lieu of a jail sentence, which was suspended.

Earlier this year Lohan was sentenced to 120 days in jail for violating the first probation, and served 35 days under house arrest. On Wednesday, Sautner said she didn't know if a jail sentence on a misdemeanor would result in any actual time served, as the county jails would be full of felons following a change in California law.
"How many stumbles have there been on the Beverly Hills case?" the judge asked Holley after the attorney argued that people usually aren't perfect at serving probation. Added Sautner: "Her probation would have been over last year, had she done what was expected of her."

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith Buy Part of NBA Team

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z may be making major moves with the Brooklyn Nets, but now the Roc Nation emcee has a little friendly competition from fellow hip-hop legend Will Smith and his wife, acclaimed actress Jada Pinkett Smith. According to reports, the Hollywood power couple have now acquired a minority stake in Will’s hometown NBA team, the Philadelphia 76ers. According to Comcast Sports Network, the Sixers held a press conference on Oct. 18 at the Palestra to announce that the team had been sold from Comcast-Spectator to a group of investors led by multibillionaire Joshua Harris, with the Smith’s being minority stakeholders in the investment. Unfortunately for the Smith’s, the NBA is still under a lockout and the first two weeks of the NBA season were recently cancelled.

While the Smiths wait for NBA to get back in full swing, Will is keeping busy working on a musical comeback and recently entered the studio to work on new music with longtime friend and collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff. “He came down like two weeks ago and was like, ‘Yo, I wanna get back into the studio, and we just knocked out some stuff,’ ” Jeff told XXL. “I just think more than anything there is no set pattern, no set plan, but we just wanna go into the studio and see what we come out with. If I can get it back to the way we used to make music, you know, it used to be just me and him in the room. You don’t need no entourages and cameras and all of that and see what happens. He hasn’t decided exactly what he wants to do.”

Well, Will may not (always) be in it for the money, but with his and Jada’s current NBA venture well underway, their growing piggy bank will undoubtedly give the power couple something to smile about. –nicholas robinson/ MadOne

FCC Test to Measure Cellphone Radiation Flawed

A government test used to measure the radiation people absorb from their cellphones might underestimate the levels to which most adults and children are exposed, according to a group of doctors and researchers whose stated mission is to promote awareness of environmental health risks they believe may be linked to cancer.

Researchers from the Environmental Health Trust released a report this morning noting that the Federal Communications Commission test to determine radiation exposure is flawed. The reason for the discrepancy, the group says, is that the process to determine radiation exposure from cellphones involves the use of a mannequin model that they say approximates a 6-foot-2, 220-pound person. Because the model represents only about 3 percent of the population, the authors report, the test will not accurately predict the radiation exposure of the other 97 percent of the population, including children. The group is pushing for a new testing system to measure radiation exposure in a wider range of consumers.

"The standard for cellphones has been developed based on old science and old models and old assumptions about how we use cellphones, and that's why they need to change," said Dr. Devra Davis, former senior adviser in the Department of Health and Human Services under the Clinton administration and one of the report's authors.

In May, the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer placed cellphones in the same category as lead and engine exhaust, citing the possibility that exposure to cellphone radiation could have long-term health effects. But roughly 30 studies conducted thus far have failed to draw a conclusive link. MadOne

WTF? FASHION MINUTE! Oct 14th, 2011

Lindsay Lohan, Hairstyles On Wednesday night, Lindsay Lohan caused a commotion by flashing her tarnished teeth at the star-studded launch of THQ's "Saints Row: The Third." As a result, nobody seemed to notice the former "Mean Girl" in her unshapely, curtain-like dress and unkempt hair extensions.

Rachel Zoe,
Stylist to the stars Rachel Zoe may have her own reality show, but that doesn't necessarily mean she has a great sense of style. Case in point: the over-accessorized getup she unsuccessfully attempted to rock at the 2nd Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic.

Hilary Duff,
While in NYC promoting her book Devoted, mom-to-be Hilary Duff proved that she's devoted to donning disastrous accoutrement.

Jessie J, London What's the worst part of the outfit Jessie J wore to the London premiere of "Demons Never Die"? Her embellished, baby blue Mark Fast jumpsuit, her fur coat, or her metallic brogues?

Nicki Minaj,
From head to toe, Nicki Minaj looked busted upon exiting the American Music Awards press conference in downtown Los Angeles.

Rachel Bilson, Denim Love nearly everything she wears. Hate that the "Hart of Dixie" star decided to sport denim cutoffs with protruding pockets. It's a trend we here at omg! refuse to accept.

Love Lady Gaga's mini and matching platform pumps, not too gaga about her cheap-looking felt chapeau, aqua-hued lipstick, and leather gloves. Are you?

Taylor Swift, Speaking of eyesore-inducing ensembles, check out the matronly, lace-armed miss Taylor Swift wore on "Good Morning America.

Brad Goreski, Red Carpet Zoe's ex-employee Brad Goreski also needs a fashion intervention.

Michelle Obama shines at South Korea state dinner

First Lady Michelle Obama debuted a gown created by Doo-Ri Chung the 38-year-old Korean-American designer at the White House state dinner.  The Doo.Ri one-shouldered purple gown with an embellished, belted waist, made a striking statement as the first couple prepared to enter the gala event in the East Room of the White House on the rainy evening. After tonight, Chung’s label Doo.Ri, will follow Jason Wu and Thakoon as the next big thing Mrs. O spins into gold. Chung, a New York-based designer known for her skillful drapery, began her career in 2001 in her family's dry cleaning store and developed into a go-to dressmaker for Eva Longoria, Rachel McAdams and Kristen Stewart—who wore a strawberry Doo.Ri design to "The Runaways" premiere.

But now that Michelle Obama's wearing her line, Chung's career is defined. MadOne
