MADNESS PREMIERE: Birdman feat Lil Wayne - Fire Flame Remix

Beyonce To Star In Clint Eastwood's 'A Star Is Born' Remake

Beyoncé Knowles is headed back to the big screen and into the familiar territory of playing an aspiring singer-turned-superstar. According to Deadline, Knowles will star in a remake of "A Star Is Born," to be directed and produced by Oscar winner Clint Eastwood for Warner Bros. The remake will be the fourth telling of the "A Star Is Born" tale, the most memorable in recent years being the 1976 version with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson as star-crossed lovers of sorts. It is also worth mentioning that the producers of that film, Billy Gerber and Jon Peters, are also attached to this new project. It is said to be a full-on musical with production set to begin sometime in the fall. Naturally, the plot details are under wraps, but the original story revolves around an aspiring singer who meets and falls in love with a troubled, failing former star who helps get the young ingénue her big break in the business.

No announcements have been made with regard to the male lead, but the report mentioned that major names like Will Smith, Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Hamm have been floated around. It's definitely an interesting step for Knowles but not necessarily a surprise, given the fact that the majority of her film roles have been as singers ("Cadillac Records," "Dreamgirls," "The Fighting Temptations"). While many thought "Dreamgirls" would bring awards recognition for Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson's supporting role ended up garnering the most attention. With Oscar fave Eastwood at the helm of this new project, Knowles could be in line for some hardware yet. Mtv.com

BOX OFFICE REPORT Jan 14 - 16 Weekend

The Green Hornet. The action-comedy starring Seth Rogen and Jay Chou was launched into 3,584 theaters and found an estimated $34 million for the victory, with the studio expecting that number to jump to $40 million by the end of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. With that estimate in mind for the four-day break it will end up with the second-best opening ever for the King holiday behind Paramount’s 2008 monster movie Cloverfield, which took in $46 million over the same stretch.

Sony also revealed “Hornet” in 3,000 screens at 35 oversea territories, taking in an estimated $16 million in coin to increase its global opening tally to $50 million. The launch is a decent opening as the studio managed to keep their budget down to only $110 million.

Researchers aim to resurrect mammoth in five years

TOKYO (AFP) – Japanese researchers will launch a project this year to resurrect the long-extinct mammoth by using cloning technology to bring the ancient pachyderm back to life in around five years time.

The researchers will try to revive the species by obtaining tissue this summer from the carcass of a mammoth preserved in a Russian research laboratory, the Yomiuri Shimbun reported. Under the plan, the nuclei of mammoth cells will be inserted into an elephant's egg cell from which the nuclei have been removed, to create an embryo containing mammoth genes, the report said. The embryo will then be inserted into an elephant's uterus in the hope that the animal will eventually give birth to a baby mammoth.

The elephant is the closest modern relative of the mammoth, a huge woolly mammal believed to have died out with the last Ice Age. Some mammoth remains still retain usable tissue samples, making it possible to recover cells for cloning, unlike dinosaurs, which disappeared around 65 million years ago and whose remains exist only as fossils Researchers hope to achieve their aim within five to six years, the Yomiuri said. Shipwreck find may be Blackbeard's sword

It's one of the latest finds aboard the remains of the ship the Queen Anne's Revenge, known at one time to be the flagship of Edward Teach, a.k.a. Blackbeard. The vessel ran aground on a North Carolina sandbar in 1718 and was abandoned; modern archaeologists have been excavating the shipwreck for more than a decade. The design and ornamentation of this newest discovery have led the researchers to believe it likely belonged to the notorious pirate himself.

An imposing figure to begin with, according to historians, Blackbeard cultivated a ferocious appearance to seem even more menacing: a long dark beard, numerous  knives, swords and pistols strapped to his chest -- even lighted fuses in his hair. In May of 1718, he used the ship to blockade the port of Charleston, S.C., and effectively hold the city hostage until he collected a considerable ransom.

50 Cent Uses Twitter To Make $8.7 Million In One Day

In just one day, 50 Cent's promotion of the publicly traded H&H Imports, Inc. raised the company's stock price from .10 to .39 per share. The G-Unit head urged his 3.8 million Twitter followers to invest in the company. "TVG's stock went from 5 cent to 10 in one day," 50 wrote about the subsidiary of H&H. "You can double your money right now. Just get what you can afford." 50's fans responded immediately, purchasing $50 million worth of the penny stocks. The New York rapper made $8.7 million from those exchanges.

Last October, 50 Cent received 30 million H&H shares in a private placement, the New York Post reported. Just days before encouraging his followers to purchase the stock, he premiered a joint effort with TV Goods, Inc., a set of headphones called Sleek By 50. Using his influence to generate so much activity for a company in which he owned stock prompted some experts to speculate whether or not he may have violated insider trader laws. Jonathan Macey, a professor of securities at Yale Law School, does not believe 50 Cent did anything wrong. "How can they call it a take if he didn't sell his stock?" Yahoo

Nike “2011 Black History Month” Pack

Throughout this week, we have shown you a number of shoes that are inspired by Black History Month. We now have detailed photos of the entire Nike “2011 Black History Month” Pack which includes a Nike Air Force 1, a Nike Zoom Kobe VI, an Air Jordan 3 and a Converse Star Player EVO. The latter three models represent three African American, iconic basketball superstars of our time: Michael Jordan, Julius Erving and Kobe Bryant. Nike pays tribute to Dr. J (with the Converse Star Player EVO) for unifying the NBA and ABA, while the Nike Zoom Kobe VI represents Kobe’s unbelievable 81-point game in 2006. Last but not least, Michael Jordan is represented by the Air Jordan 3 for his timeless dunk from the free-throw line in 1987.

As for this year’s “Black History Month” Nike Air Force 1, it is dressed in black Stetson leather and features woodblock cut print around the upper by artist Hele Woodruff. The predominately black base represents the basketball shoes that were worn on court in the early days, and the gold stands for the golden moment we all practice and train for. No word on when this pack will release, yet, stay tuned for additional information. Meanwhile, check out detailed photos of the entire pack and an official press release from Nike.
