BOX OFFICE REPORT Dec 3 - 5 Weekend

Disney’s Tangled stayed one step ahead of the competition in its second frame by earning an estimated $21.5 million in the first December race. With this latest performance in the bag, the studio’s latest animated adventure has nabbed $96.4 million over its first 10 days of domestic release and another $45.8 million from the early foreign tallies around the globe. Around 55% of its early distribution has been attributed to the 3D screen coverage.

Even with The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and TRON: Legacy set to arrive in theaters the next two weeks, the winter holiday season hasn’t gone as planned for Hollywood. We had our third downtick in a row this weekend, with the top 10 films collectively picking up $75 million, or 14% less than top performers in the same frame last year.
