BOX OFFICE REPORT Jan 7 - 9 Weekend

True Grit, which spent its first two weekends of release riding patiently behind Little Fockers only to take over the top reigns in its third frame. Not only did it bounce ahead of the family comedy to the 1st place spot, the western remake starring Jeff Bridges also crossed the $100 million mark this weekend by taking in another $15.0 million in receipts. It’s hard to believe that despite the numerous Academy Award nominations the Coen brothers have accumulated over the years, the siblings have never crossed that $100 threshold in domestic sales until now.
