As expected the executives over at Paramount Pictures have locked in a release date for next fall with Paranormal Activity 3, another sequel to their profitable franchise. The second installment which hit prior to the Halloween holiday was produced on a budget of just $3 million and has provided $156.9 million in worldwide coin.
For obvious reasons, everything is still to early in the development stage for a writer, director or cast to be locked in but original helmer Oren Peli will likely be back as executive producer. Staying in tuned with the spook-focused holiday demographics, the studio is planning for Paranormal Activity 3 to premiere into theaters October 21, 2011. The new date has determined that Paramount likes their chances against Steven Soderbergh's 3D action-thriller Contagion, which features Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gywneth Paltrow in the cast and is locked for the same release date.
