BOX OFFICE REPORT Nov 5 - 7 Weekend

The animated comedy scored big with an estimated $47.7 million in coin over its first three days, with 66% of its take coming from the 3D portion of its distribution. The tally comes in between DreamWorks’ previous 3D outings in 2010, How to Train Your Dragon and Shrek Forever After. “Dragon” opened to $43.7 million back in March before going on eat up $218 million in domestic cash while the fourth “Shrek” adventure grabbed $70.8 mil in its May opener before taking in a cume $238.3 million.  
 
Tyler Perry continues to be a very profitable brand for Lionsgate, with his latest production For Colored Girls following in 3rd place by nearly taking its budget in the opening weekend. Set at a cost of just $21 million, Perry’s latest drama found $20.1 million over the weekend with its audience consisting of 82% of females, with patrons age 25 or older providing 87% of support and African-American moviegoers 81%.
